History

If you were to ask us “Are you a sister or a daughter of the original owners?” We would tell you;
Stitches & Daughters was founded by Carola Reason and Julia Redfearn in 1987.  Using their instinct and eclectic tastes the pair generated one of the first ‘lifestyle’ shops which have become so popular in recent times. By amalgamating new and edgy products, vintage and hand crafted items not readily available on the high street; the eccentric style of Sisters and Daughters was born. Over the years sister stores were opened in Greenwich and Tower Bridge. The shops delighted customers and charmed stylists and became renowned for its innovative buying and engaging stock.
  Carola took over the shop in Blackheath and renamed it Sisters  & Daughters, where she continued to trade until her retirement in 2001 when Julia McCulloch, became the new owner. Julia Redfearn continued to trade as Stitches & Daughters until she retired.

About Julia McCulloch

Julia McCulloch joined the business in 1988 as manager. Julia fell in love with the shop the first time she entered it whilst shopping with her Mother in Blackheath. Julia began her career as a make-up artist working for Mary Quant and Biba Cosmetics and developed her passion for retail whilst working at Selfridges. Her love of home and interior decoration was fuelled by experience assisting photographers and stylists for magazines. Whilst striving to maintain the original essence of Stitches and Daughters, Julia has also made her own indelible mark on the business. By pushing to seek out the most captivating and deluxe products and showcasing them in an enchanting and avant-garde way; Julia has manifested the wonder she felt whilst shopping with her mother as a child, in to her shop which gives its customers and their recipients the same indulgence everyday.
